Football Analyst Sutton Battles Artist Olly Murs in Premier League Predictions

Arsenal's ten-match victorious run was ended by Sunderland before the international break, but will the Premier League frontrunners recover against north London rivals Tottenham this Sunday?

"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this game," remarked soccer expert Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will attempt to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating best this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's team usually still find a way to win."

The analyst is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League games this term, versus AI, fans and a variety of special visitors.

In week 12, he faces singer Olly Murs, who is a United supporter.

Murs' latest album, the new release, is out on Friday.

Olly is a skilled footballer as well as a successful artist and has been a star of multiple charity football games down the years - but he is not intending a serious return as a footballer.

"{I recently played in a charity game the other night for a friend of mine," he explained. "The team was losing 3-1 when I came off in the 60th minute, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you will!

"I continue to love football, but I hurt my knee a few years ago and it still isn't where I want it to be. I hope I could play more but the uncertainty of the game means it's too dangerous for me in my career to do it seriously again.

"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my daughter or son decides to play instead."

Murs and his spouse Amelia Tank have a young family, their daughter and Albert, and he is ready to follow in his father's footsteps by becoming their coach.

"I will not force football on our kids but I've previously told Amelia that if they do get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will probably be coaching their Saturday football side," he added.

"I observed my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly was involved with a football club for a while too.

"My dad coached with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I inherited it. He managed our side for several seasons and had great fun with it. That could be the future for me as well, and I am excited to it!"

Premier League Forecasts

Weekend, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea might have to be patient for Cole Palmer's comeback from fitness issues but their attack is already more potent with Joao Pedro and Delap both back fit.

I still think this fixture will be fairly tight, though. The Clarets are well organised and their sole home losses so far have been against the Reds and the Gunners.

This suggests a 1-1 tie to me, but I am actually going to choose Chelsea to edge it for what would be their third league win in a row.

The expert's prediction: 1-2

The singer's prediction: The Blues will be superior. 1-3

AI's outlook: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Bournemouth have lost their previous couple games - albeit both of them were on the road - but they got thoroughly beaten by Aston Villa last time out which surprised me.

In contrast, West Ham secured two in a row before the hiatus and, although both of those fixtures were at home, they do look strong again.

West Ham's only away win this season came at Nottingham Forest in August, when West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo was previously that team's coach.

So, what exactly do I predict here - will it be the Hammers extending their streak under their manager, or Bournemouth responding?

I will choose the Cherries, because I think what occurred against Aston Villa was a blip.

Sutton's prediction: 2-0

Olly's outlook: Bournemouth are performing strongly but the visitors have picked up under their boss. 2-2

AI's pick: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Brentford were considered one of the frontrunners for the drop before the campaign began, but they have surprised a several people under their manager and are in fine fettle with three in their past four games.

My son advised me to get Brentford forward Igor Thiago in my fantasy soccer team a few weeks back and, guess what, I didn't listen.

Thiago will probably score again on the weekend but I am still not going to select him or back the away side at Brighton's ground.

They have not had great fortune on the road this term, and Brighton are consistently decent at their stadium. The visitors will try to attack on the counter-attack but I think Fabian Hurzeler's side pose much more of a danger.

The analyst's forecast: 2-1

The singer's view: This could be a match where you expect there is going to be a many scores but it in reality proves to be quite close. 1-1

The computer's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a huge game for the Cottagers, who have suffered defeat in five of their past six games.

Fulham have got lots of quality in their team but it nonetheless feels like they could be dragged into a drop zone battle.

Regarding Sunderland, indeed they are the surprise package of the Premier League campaign so far.

The away side's performance in the 2-2 tie with the Gunners last time out was excellent. We have not seen anyone else rough up the Gunners like that this term, and Sunderland were more than a match for them.

The logical choice would be to back the Black Cats here, because they are clearly capable of disrupting Fulham up too and, the last time they were in west London, they defeated the Blues at the end of last month.

However I am not going to do that. Rather, I truly need to carry on opposing the away team with my forecasts. I am taking a lot of credit for their positive results because they evidently love to defy my predictions.

Considering Fulham's at Craven Cottage record, the sole side they have been defeated by is the league leaders. Their manager's side will be absolutely eager for a good result, so I am going to say they will secure three points.

Sutton's prediction: 1-0

Olly's choice: I'm aware the visitors are doing well and additionally that the hosts are on a bad run... but Fulham have nonetheless been respectable at home this campaign. 2-0

The algorithm's outlook: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

It is a tough fixture to predict. The Reds have lost seven of their last ten matches in every tournament, but might they be among the teams who profit from the {international break|
