A Community Cut Off from the World

After maintaining the city under blockade for almost two years, from late summer the paramilitary force advanced to consolidate its control and blockade the leftover civilian population.

Satellite images reveal that fighters began to erect a enormous earth barrier - a built-up dirt embankment - encircling the perimeter of al-Fashir, blocking access routes and preventing humanitarian assistance.

As the siege worsened, 78 individuals were killed in an paramilitary attack on a religious building on 19 September, while the United Nations reported dozens more were slain in aerial and heavy weapon bombardments on a makeshift community in the autumn.

Explicit Video Reveals Defenseless Civilians Gunned Down

By sunrise on 26 October the paramilitary force conquered the final government strongholds and seized the primary compound in the urban area, the main facility of the Army Division, as the army pulled back.

One of the most graphic recordings to emerge and examined depicted the aftermath of a massacre at a university building on the western of the urban area, where scores dead bodies were observed scattered over the area.

An older individual wearing a robe remained isolated surrounded by the corpses. The man turned to gaze as a combatant carrying with a weapon walked along the stairs facing the individual. lifting his rifle, the gunman released a solitary shot at the individual, who fell to the ground still.

"Why is this individual even living," another fighter exclaimed. "Kill this person."

Satellite images recorded on October 26th appeared to confirm that shootings were also conducted on the streets of al-Fashir, as reported by a study issued by the academic research center.

A key witness who spoke reported he had witnessed "multiple of our relatives being killed - the victims were collected in a single location and each one killed."

Paramilitary Officers Attempt to Conduct Reputation Management

Following the events that ensued from the massacre, paramilitary leader conceded that his fighters had committed "wrongdoings" and said the occurrences would be looked into.

Among those apprehended was subsequent to a report recording his executions. Deliberately orchestrated and edited recording published on the RSF's authorized social media channel reveal him being escorted into a cell at a prison on the outskirts of el-Fasher.

Meanwhile, the militia and associated online channels started seeking to alter the account.

Content presenting its militiamen providing assistance to inhabitants were shared by several accounts, while the militia's communications team shared multiple videos allegedly to display the humane treatment of military captives.

Despite the social media initiative being used by the paramilitary, their conduct in el-Fasher have generated international condemnation.
