Supporters Call for Custody of Person Who Seized Ariana Grande
Passionate supporters of the actress are demanding that a man who breached a barricade and grabbed the celebrity during Thursday's Wicked: For Good debut be detained or deported from Singapore.
A viral video depicts the individual from Australia pushing past photographers and charging at Grande while the cast made its way down a yellow carpet flanked by fans.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo promptly wrested the stunned actress away from Mr Wen, who was seen being removed of the premiere by guards.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram recently that he was "released after being detained", though legal records indicated that he was set to be present on Friday morning. It is not clear if he was faced legal action.
Record of Incidents
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Notorious Troublemaker", has crashed a celebrity gathering. His Instagram account contains recordings of him disturbing other celebrity events, including rushing the platform at the pop singer's Sydney performance in earlier this year and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers concert in the same location last winter.
"Steps should be implemented enforced against him as this is obviously a criminal offence," wrote an Instagram user, in a message to a video Mr Wen shared of his actions.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" a different Instagram user remarked.
Fans Show Disapproval Over Ariana's Well-being
Several fans blamed Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had spoken of dealing with trauma-related anxiety after a suicide bomb attack at the conclusion of her May 2017 show in Manchester, killing 22 people and harming numerous individuals.
"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" wrote one more response on Instagram.
A number of attendees also criticised event staff at the Thursday event for not being vigilant enough; while others demanded social media platforms to ban Mr Wen's videos.
Aftermath and Event Details
In footage shared widely, Grande looked startled when she was grabbed by the individual. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed consoling her while Mr Wen was escorted away by staff.
Grande has not issued a statement on the event, and the premiere activities continued without further issues.
Numerous of attendees had congregated in a mass of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good regional launch in a Singapore shopping center, including several who had waited for as long as many hours before it began.
The movie, to be premiered on November 21, is the sequel of a two-film interpretation of the acclaimed Broadway and West End musical Wicked, which revolves around the unexpected friendship between two very different characters.
The production itself is a derivative of the twentieth-century story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was adorned in a light pink sparkling outfit at the premiere while Erivo, who acts as the wicked witch, wore a elegant ensemble featuring roses.
They were alongside co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the top-earning movie of last year in the UK, and earned ten Oscar nominations, earning a pair for excellent wardrobe and set decoration.
