Armed assailants have fatally shot an educator and kidnapped no fewer than 25 pupils in an assault against a girls' secondary school in Nigeria's northwestern region, authorities have confirmed.
The gang of attackers invaded the public educational institution for female students in the Maga locality within Kebbi State at approximately 04:00 local time on the beginning of the work week, officials stated.
The assailants "exchanged fire with security forces on duty in a firefight" before climbing over the boundary wall and taking the pupils captive from their living quarters, an official report indicated.
